Some unique spots
The Patagonian landscapes around us comprise enormous spaces with a luminosity peculiar to deserts that is as changeable as the skies.
Lagos del Furioso is very near the Pacific Ocean, and the winds that reach us from the immense southern sea do so after having passed over the Valdivian rainforest and the northern continental ice field. By the time they are deflected by the bulk of Mount San Lorenzo, the air has lost most of its humidity and there is little moisture left for this region.
Ever more arid as one approaches the Atlantic, the land bedcomes the Patagonian steppe.
Our house lies in a transition zone, so it is very easy to pass quickly from the arid, luminous steppe in the east, to the humid, cold forests to the west. We are at a crossroads that leads in both directions.
